INTERSECTION · PUBLIC REALM · LONDON

Colour creates a landmark at a busy urban threshold.

THE CHALLENGE

Turn a transitional space into a clear and welcoming arrival.

The newly built development brings together offices, serviced apartments, restaurants and a landscaped public garden. Its entrances needed a stronger sense of identity and a more intuitive connection to the surrounding streets.

The opportunity was not to add conventional signs, but to use the ground itself to mark thresholds, support movement and invite people into the space.

OUR RESPONSE

A repeatable visual system built from colour and direction.

We created four large-scale pavement artworks positioned at key entrance and exit points. Each composition uses six arrows—three pointing in each direction—to express movement, openness and connection.

A carefully balanced palette responds to the architecture and planting. Repetition makes the system recognisable, while variations in colour give each threshold its own character.

VALUE FOR THE PLACE

Wayfinding that also creates identity.

The artworks make the entrances easier to recognise and turn a previously neutral route into a distinctive part of the development. Orientation, public art and placemaking work as one integrated system.
